Thank you, God

There are things that make Christmas...Christmas.  I look back at Christmases as a child and surprisingly I cannot remember too many of the gifts that were given me.  I do remember making sugar cookies with my Mom and siblings.  I do remember the Christmas parade and driving through the neighborhood looking at lights together.  I remember going to Grandma and Grandpa's home.  I remember Grandma playing the piano while we sang Christmas songs...(as the dog tooted and we all giggled and tried hard not to breathe).  I remember Grandma taking us to see the Nutcracker ballet.  I remember Christmas Eve dinner with all the traditional German food.  I remember Candle light services and the joy of being with my family and those I love.   I remember going out as a family and choosing our tree.  (Not such an easy feat with so many with input) Then drinking hot cocoa and watching my mother patiently put on the lights.  Looking at each ornament and remembering when we got it and where.

9 years we have used a fake tree.  Today my sweet husband said.."Let's go get a real tree."  I was giddy!!  We went as a family and picked out our perfect tree.  Teary-eyed and beaming I drove home.  My heart was singing.  Thank you, God.

I am sitting on my couch writing and looking at my REAL tree!!   Smelling my REAL tree!!  My God knew I needed this...and all I can do is say thank you, thank you, thank you to my Father God.

When I look back later in life, I am sure that this Christmas will be a very fond, sweet memory.

Just what were you feeding the dog? *smile*

I haven't had a real tree in YEARS. I don't think my children even remember having one. Enjoy it!
