value

If you want to find out what you truly value...look at what you spend your monies on. I know..so simplistic..but it really is true!

Recently..I overheard someone complaining how much a certain pastor was making. It really wasn't that much. It fed and took care of his family with a little extra. No mansions. No expensive cars. In fact..in my opinion..to low. If this man ever had a medical emergency..or car problem..it would probably be hard to pay for it.

This attitude really, really bothers me. The church treats a lot of their pastors like hirelings. It isn't right. If we value their services..then we should provide in such a way that they can do their job without worrying how he is going to make the budget each month.

Bottom line..we value the services that we receive from Starbucks or Walmart more than the pastors and people of our churches. Why? We value what we buy there. We believe their product and services are worth the money spent. Very few of us truly value what our church is doing.

Personally...I love tithing. We do it before we ever do my bills or anything else. We celebrate it. We rejoice that God has provided for us and we get to give back in some way. We give with purpose ...because getting people saved, delivered, and set free from bondage is money well spent!
